Troops Repel Terrorist Attack on FOB Mandaragirau, Five Soldiers Killed in Fierce Battle

Troops of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Mandaragirau under 25 Brigade, Sector 2 of Operation HADIN KAI, successfully repelled a terrorist attack launched around 3:00 a.m. despite heavy rain and poor visibility.

The attackers attempted to breach the base but were met with a strong counter-offensive that inflicted casualties and forced them to retreat.

During the intense firefight, five soldiers and three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) lost their lives, while wounded personnel were airlifted for medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

Although some military equipment was affected, troops retained full control of the base and have continued exploitation operations in the area.

The military described the attack as a sign of the terrorists' growing desperation amid sustained operational pressure across the North-East.
