?The African Diaspora Resource and Research Centre at the University of Ibadan, in collaboration with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), is set to hold a virtual seminar examining why Nigeria has yet to establish a legal framework for diaspora voting.

?Scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. (WAT), the event titled "Do Migrants Vote?" will analyze issues surrounding political participation, voting rights, and the systemic enfranchisement of Nigerians living abroad.

?Key highlights of the session include:

?Lead Presentation: Dr. Olaolu Peter Oluwasanmi will deliver the main address, titled "The Nigerian State and the Politics of Diaspora (Dis)Enfranchisement."

?Discussion & Moderation: Dr. Abdulrahman Terab, Head of Technology, Transfer, Innovation, and Investment at NiDCOM, will serve as a discussant, while Dr. Jermaine Sanwo-Olu, Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Office of Diaspora Affairs, will moderate.

?Host: The webinar is hosted by Professor Senayon Olaoluwa, Director of the Centre and Professor of Diaspora Studies, alongside a panel of scholars.
