?The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has issued a stern warning to politicians and public officeholders against utilizing stolen public funds to sponsor pilgrimages to Mecca and Jerusalem, emphasizing that religious deeds financed through corruption will not be accepted by God.

?Speaking at the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, the apex Islamic leader urged religious figures to actively support national anti-corruption initiatives.

He called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ensure impartial prosecution of individuals found guilty of graft, irrespective of their political status or religious affiliation.

?Furthermore, Abubakar advised clerics across the country to refrain from making inflammatory statements, particularly during election cycles, and to remain steadfast in promoting peace and national unity.
