The Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has emphasized the need to restore the old value system as a strategic approach to addressing insecurity across the Nupe Kingdom and beyond.
The revered traditional ruler stated this when he received a delegation from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College on a courtesy visit at the Wadata Palace in Bida on Thursday.
The delegation was led to Bida by officials from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of Niger State, led by the Director of Administration, Alhaji Abdullahi Uregi, alongside the Director of Finance, Alhaji Abdullahi Hassan Wasagi, who represented the Secretary to the Government of Niger State.




The Etsu Nupe stressed the importance of community policing and grassroots participation in strengthening security architecture, noting that the traditional institution remains a critical partner in intelligence gathering, conflict resolution, and promotion of peaceful coexistence.
He further intimated the visiting participants on the structural organization of the Nupe Kingdom, highlighting the roles of district, village, and ward heads in maintaining order and fostering unity among the people.
Earlier, Leader of the delegation, Air Commodore O.O. Obasa, explained that the visit formed part of the study tour activities of participants of the College. He appreciated the contributions and patriotic services rendered by the Etsu Nupe during his service in the military.
Air Commodore Obasa also enlightened the traditional ruler and members of his council on the statutory responsibilities of the College, particularly in training senior military officers and enhancing strategic leadership for national development and security management.



Highlight of the visit was the presentation of the College souvenir to the Etsu Nupe by the team leader, while the Etsu Nupe also presented a basket of kolanuts to the delegation as a mark of honour and hospitality.
