?The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will reshape its global narrative and correct widespread misconceptions as it prepares to host the Global Alliance–World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026 this November.

?Speaker Abbas made the remarks while receiving a delegation led by Prof. Justin Green, President and CEO of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management—the global umbrella body representing over 300,000 communicators across 126 countries.

?The event marks the first time in the 25-year history of the Global Alliance that Africa will host the WPRF alongside the African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference.

During the summit, Speaker Abbas is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on Parliamentary Democracy Day and inaugurate a dedicated exhibition pavilion showcasing the legislative history of the National Assembly.

?Addressing the delegation, Speaker Abbas described the hosting right as a historic milestone for the country and the continent.

?“One hundred and twenty-six countries coming to Nigeria is not a small thing,” Speaker Abbas stated. “I am happy, particularly for the opportunity that will present itself for those 'Doubting Thomases’ around the world who think Nigeria is at the lowest ebb of development, to come and see with their eyes what Nigeria is and what Nigeria is promising to be in the future.”

?He commended Prof. Green for his decade-long efforts to integrate Africa into the global communications landscape, assuring him that Nigeria would deliver a memorable event.

The Speaker also lauded the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, describing him as a persistent advocate whose dedication made securing the hosting rights possible.

?In his remarks, Prof. Green commended Speaker Abbas for leading an inclusive legislative process in the 10th House of Representatives that prioritizes youth, women, and vulnerable groups.

Drawing from the House’s three-year scorecard, he expressed confidence that the delegates arriving in Abuja would experience unparalleled hospitality.

?Dr. Neliaku added that while a WPRF conference was held in Africa 19 years ago in 2007, the 2026 event is unique as it merges the global forum with the continental APRA conference.

He commended Speaker Abbas for his consistent support of the public relations profession and governance initiatives.

?The delegation also included Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, Secretary of Council (NIPR); Moji Makanjuola (MFR, FNIPR), Council Member; and Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan (FNIPR), Secretary-General of the African Public Relations Association.
